Why did Margarito look so terrible against Mosley?

Why is Margarito's name still being brought up? He should be blacklisted and never mentioned again. All of his big wins should have an asterisk next to them.

There are several reasons.

1.) Margarito didn't have his illegal hand wraps. Naazim spotted the attempt made by Marg's camp to load his gloves so Marg couldn't use his secret weapon.

2.) The psychological effect it had on Marg must have been great. Thoughts must have been racing in his head after he was busted so it must have been hard for him to concentrate on the fight.

3.) As others have said, Marg's style was perfectly suited for Shane's style. Marg is there to be hit and Shane throws hellacious shots.

shane could take his punches and effect him with his own power. that's a bad style for margarito.

margarito was at the tail end of a career based on getting hit on the jaw with flush shots.

additionally, they had just found the guy trying to load his gloves. his head was probably spinning.


imagine if one of your hood cases caught up to you right before you were about to head to a fight. it would throw you off your game.

Simple answer is that SSM is better.

- His chin is almost as good.
- He's physically stronger
- He's faster
- He punches harder
- He's a better boxer

All these reasons are why Margarito did (not looked) so terrible against SSM.

Mosley had to be jacked...his energy output was crazy right from the start. I kept thinking early in the fight...man he's going to gas if he keeps this up...but it never happened...he just kept going and getting stronger as the fight progressed. The fight was 2009-01-24...his testimony in his defamation case against Victor Conte where he admitted to using PED's was 2009-10-27 and at that point he stopped using PED's IMO because he was to hot...hence his degeneration.

Mosley being roided out of his ass/ hitting and holding style

Excessive weight loss/weight drained

Nassim getting in Margarito's head saying "theres blocks in dem wraps!"

You tend to keep your energy up when you are cracking the other guys skull open as opposed to taking shots. That said both these guys are proven cheaters.

Not at that level of output...you tend to run out of gas under normal circumstances. Shane never had an output with that kind of speed and power before or after. I just finished commenting in another thread about how Derrick Jefferson did himself in against David Izon...he literally punched himself out to oblivion and lost a fight he was winning because in the end he was so tired the ref stopped the fight. It's almost impossible to keep up the pace Mosley was going at without EPO...which Mosley later admitting to using...although not specifically in that fight.
