That's a serious possibility. I heard Ben Thompson, the FloydHype guy posts here. He encourages the extreme Floyd fanboys to post on FightHype forums

Nope. Think about it logically, if he didn't retire, best case they would have spent six months building up an ODLH rematch for Dec 2007 or most likely Cinco de Mayo in May 2008, given Sept is too close for a promotion that size. Then would come Hatton in Nov or Dec of 2008. So he only really misses out of fighting Cotto pre Margo or post Margo. Not exactly missing alot of fights is he?

Floyd could of been higher up on the ATGs if he fought 140 Cotto and 147 Paul Williams.

Mosley was still very good at that time, and he called Floyd out on ESPN in 2007. There were people like Margarito, prime Cotto, Clottey (who beat the former Floyd opponent Corrales), and Paul Williams.

Did Floyd "retire" to avoid those guys?

Floyd made Hatton move up to 147 and fight in his hometown, but Floyd would never consider moving up a weight division and fighting Vernon Forrest.
I think he retired because he did not want to rematch DLH. He won by a controversial split decision. I dont think he wanted to give Oscar another shot.

Mayweather definitely ducked Margarito. Margarito was the most feared man in boxing. Mayweather did not want to take that risk. That was one of the biggest ducks in boxing history.

Not all boxing fans are a fan of Pacman or Floyd. It is common knowledge to all boxing fans that he cherry picked his fights and avoided those high risk fighters. There is one thread here recently showing in video how Floyd cherry picks his fights and most of his fans admitted there it was a common knowledge to them.

Yes, in hindsight you can say that now, can't you.

Didn't look good on paper in 2009 now did it? That a 5'7 Lightweight was moving up two divisions, coming off of a TKO win where little Juan Diaz hurt him and gave him some trouble.
