Why is it okay in your mind for JMM to move up from 135 to fight Floyd at 147, of Hatton to move up from 140 to fight Floyd at 147, yet at the same rime it's unthinkable in your mind for Floyd in 1998-2002 to move up from 130 to 140 and fight Tszyu, or from 2002-03 to move up from 135 to 140 and fight Tszyu?

Or to fight Tszyu in late 2004 or early 2005 when they both fought at 140?

Who was the biggest threat to beat Floyd: Bruseles, Corley, Gatti, Tszyu?

Which one of those four light welterweights did he avoid?

Floyd preferred to fight past-prime opponents.

He avoided Mosley in 2007-2008 when he was still good, but fought him when he was sure he was faded.

He avoided prime Cotto in 2007-2009 but fought him when he was faded.

He avoided De La Hoya when he was prime (although he didn't mind beating up old shot fighters like Genaro Hernandez that Oscar had already beaten when they were closer to their best) but fought Oscar in 2007 after he was sure Oscar was faded.

I didn't think so at the time but it seems pretty convenient for him that he ended up not fighting Margarito or Williams and waited til Cotto was pretty much through to fight him...

I can deal with that (and most people probably can) but not fighting Pacquiao will forever stain his legacy...

Its always interesting to note that the people who disagree with this are usually the ones with Mayweather all over their profile. Seems obvious, but it happens every single time. I wonder if they realise it's not the best indicator of credibility.

As for main thread question, it seems awfully su****ious. The fact he evaded Pacquiao like the plague only further adds to it.

Also for note, the argument that Cotto, Tony etc would not have made his "ATG status" better, is evading the question. You're effectively saying he did evade those fights because of high risk, low reward.

Yeah I did say that but I also said this on the first page:

I defend a lot of things related to Floyd Mayweather but this was inexcusable.

He took the paydays from the De La Hoya and Hatton fights and ran off into the sunset.

So I don't know exactly where your trying to go with that.

Floyd did consider moving up a weight division, he went up to 154 to fight WBC champion and #3 ranked Oscar De La Hoya, before "Making" Hatton move up to 147 the same year. Nobody wanted to fight Forrest at 154, so why should Floyd have?
