Lewis would have stopped Vitali. It was just a matter of time.

There were two different cuts, from two different punches that mangled Vitali's face.

There goes the lucky punch theory. Vitali offensively was very good against Lewis. His defence or lack thereof let him down. He wasn't fighting a 5'8 blown up contender. He was fighting the heavyweight champion of the world and his defence let him down and a tired Lewis was still hitting the target with high frequency. That's the difference in level right there.

I didn't say they didn't try! I said they're NOT well conditioned men it shows right in front of you! You don't train to look good you train to be able to absorb punishment and continue on with the fight. These guys can't throw combination after getting hit with a few punches. They were stumbling all over the ring after 4 rounds.
Their good heavies but their not great fighters, if one or both appear in a great fight that still doesn't make them great!!!! Style, technique, ring generalship, being a finisher are some of the attributes a great fighter has.
These guys are oversized, out of shape, second tear fighters. In the top fifty with Vitali being after fifty!! Sorry but they simply don't have any style, they can barely jab/right hand they look terrible throwing a hook and when they do throw a hook do they ever come back with a right hand? No!

Some people had Vitali up on Lennox. FOH. It was a close fight. Nobody saw Vitali dominating in that fight except Vitali's fans. Lennox won, and the cut was caused by a punch-period! Vitali lost, get over it.

Still making threads on this fight?

I think it's all been said 1000 times by now no matter what side you're on.

                Move on.

They were both gassed but cmon now. The fight I watched, Vitali def looked like he was more on the verge of stopping Lewis. But we will never know so screw it, but Vitali def deserves more respect than he gets on here. Im sure if a newer Lennox Lewis type guy was in Heavyweight, he wold gove him a hell pf a fight as well. Vitali is one tough bastard

Vitali gets too much credit for this fight. Everyone knows that he fought hard, but that doesn't equate to winning. Vitali has a high ko ratio to fights, yet he didn't ko Lewis or put him down. To say that he was on the verge of stopping Lewis is absurd. Lewis gave just as good as he got.

I saw it same as the judges (4-2) prior to stoppage.
Vitali was dominating prior to cut, after that Lennox was on his way up.

It's very hard to tell how much that cut affected the slight switch in positions. (although, Lennox wasn't that convincing after the cut either).

As I said many times, fight itself was pretty inconclusive. I can't tell who was the better regardless Lennox won deservedly.
