I don't think Eubank did particularly well against southpaws, maybe it was more that he wasn't used to the angles and couldn't see the punches coming?

We can clearly see Calzaghe slapped like a ***** in countless videos.

Its hardly a 'big' myth, not many people even know who Calzaghe is. He was largely unknown in Britain until Lacy and Kess.

he wsnt a weak puncher, he just used slaps as a tactic when his opponent was -

1. too slick defensively for him to land on cleanly (eg Hopkins)
2. too skilled offensively for him to outbox (Kessler)
3. too poor to put up a fight (most early defences)

People say it was the damaged wrists, but to be fair,if they were so bad he would have packed in a boxing career long ago.

Calzaghe had decent power until his hands were ruined,the fact that he adapted his style and still beat everybody despite having fucked hands really says a lot about the guy

spot on, Eubank fought Benn twice, Collins twice, Watson twice - and was dropped by Watson but Calzaghe is the guy he always talks about as being the hard puncher.

Eubank was at the tale end of his career, he primed very early. He was semi-retired & fought Joe at a weight he hadn't fought at in years.

Just about every super middleweight has some power. Joe may not of been feather fisted as such but quite clearly he did not hit very hard. He stopped guys from an accumulation and often the stoppages was disgustingly premature.

Its ridiculous to even claim Joe hit hard & IMO its clutching at straws when you say ''This fighter felt his punches he should know'' Fighters say a lot of things, when they do they're usually being modest or exaggerating to make themselves feel better.

This isn't the first time Eubank has said this however, he always references Calzaghe's power despite losing to other fighters too.

He was at the tail end of his career but he fought Collins at the tail-end of his career too and never speaks on him being a hard puncher.

Calzaghe clearly had some technique issues which showed up from time to time but I take Eubank at his word, the guy could ****.
