Both Ali and Foreman said Shavers. That should be enough to end the debate.
Who is the hardest puncher in heavyweight history?

That was more a case of accumalative blows with small horse hair padded gloves mixed with bad refereeing.baer did hit hard no doubt.personally i think you got to look at all areas any guy 200lbs plus hits like a mule alot of guys have there money punch shavers was that overhand right devastating foreman could do you with either punch left right didnt matter lewis had his straight right but tyson could make you sleep with left or right hooks and uppercuts in either hand now is that power or tecnique!! i think shavers and foreman were the most natural heavy handed fighters im confused when it comes to joe louis and mike tyson there tecnique speed and accuracy brought serious power and quality knockouts, foreman and shavers all the way natural bulldozers.Comment

I've held mitts for Shavers and Tyson and Ernie had "heavier" hands! I do think that Big George wins this contest however! He had the most powerfull jab and his right hand didn't look like much but everyone went to sleep when it landed! I had a local Conn. heavy back in the late 70s who hit like a mule, a southpaw named Kenny Schmidt. He was 6'2" 200lbs but he had a great snap and huge hands and forearms. Kid had alot of power but he started boxing at 27yrs old and thats to late to learn and retain. Ray.Comment

I'd say Lewis had the hardest right hand in history, but his left hand didn't seem as effective (from a knock out standpoint). As an all-round puncher, I'd say Shavers, but Tyson gives him a run for his money.Comment
