I certainly lean towards scoring it 10-8 most of the time because in a way you deserve to win the round if you knock the guy down. I think I've only scored it 9-9 like that on maybe three occasions because usually if the round is even or the guy who gets dropped is barely ahead, it still goes 10-8 for the man who caused the knockdown. I'll try to find a few other examples where I scored it 9-9 because it definitely isn't common.
Test your SCORING abilities! Tyson-Bruno I round 1

I thought of one. Holyfield-Moorer I. Moorer dominates Holyfield in one of the early rounds. Holyfield lands maybe three punches, one of which drops Moorer. I think two out of three judges scored it 9-9, one had it 10-8 Holyfield. Ended up costing Holyfield the fight actually as he lost by one point on two cards I believe. I'll definitely look that up for you guys.Comment

=========I got it 9-8 for Tyson because I felt Bruno won the round with better punches (10-9 Bruno); however, he loses a point for the knockdown, one of the few good shots Tyson lands (9-9); furthermore, Bruno also gets penalized for rabbit punching (9-8 Tyson). Give me karma because this thread is a good test of your ability to score rounds. It also begs the question, do you always give a guy a 10-8 round for scoring a knockdown even if he was beaten up for the rest of the round? I'm tempted to, but I prefer to score them 9-9 even. The only even rounds I ever score are those affected by point deductions.===============

cool, I was wondering if anybody was gonna come up with the same score as me on that. thought I was crazy for a minuteOriginally posted by LondonRingRules=========I got it 9-8 for Tyson because I felt Bruno won the round with better punches (10-9 Bruno); however, he loses a point for the knockdown, one of the few good shots Tyson lands (9-9); furthermore, Bruno also gets penalized for rabbit punching (9-8 Tyson). You raise some interesting and valid points, Diego. I don't actually agree, I think what Tyson did was enough to edge the round (yeah, he got rocked twice but he hit Bruno hard enough to actually put him down... I gotta take the KD as part of the overall action, not just a separate issue) and he was pressing the action. Bruno did a LOT of holding to get through that one, though yeah, you're right, Tyson got hurt noticeably twice and it certainly WASN'T "survival mode" from Bruno in that opening round.
I give it 10-7 Tyson but I see your logic, it's open for debate...Comment

10-7 Tyson.
The knockdown played a major role on this though. Tyson was hit HARD and hurt because of that. But ofcource Bruno lost points too. It could've gone 10-9 if it wasn't for the rabbit hitting etc. Its not about opnions with this one.
It was also really cool too see Tyson get hurt like that. I mean you dont see that all the time
