The hype surrounding Pacquiao-Marquez I/II/III/IV, still can't compare to the hype surrounding Ali-Frazier I and III.

It's closer and both will live on forever, but EVERYONE....EVERYONE out there knows about Ali-Frazier. I still couldn't say the random sports fan on the street would know about Pacquiao-Marquez, though a ton still would obviously.

                by far......

The rivalry is surreal, the talented but less athletic, less known fighter against the stronger, faster more famous ATG.Yet the lesser known fighter doesn't concede defeat or accept the odds that are stacked against him despite getting robbed and dropped 5 times. Just to comeback at the very end of the rivalry to viciously knock out his arch nemesis which no one thought he could do. It's some Cinderella shit

                I'd say

Barrera Morales comes second with Gatti Ward 3rd.

                Honorable mentions go to
                Vazquez - Marquez
                Chacon - Olivares
                Ali - Frazier (overrated IMO)
                Bowe - Holyfield
                Gonzalez - Carbajal
                Duran - Dejesus

the history romanticizers will disagree and say some sorry ass rivalry like

Langford - Wills because they fought over 20 times,or
                Nelson vs Gans

                are the best

......Not sure if you're being serious or not......

The fights lived up to it, the 2nd is the forgotten fight because Ali controlled much of the fight and the other two were amazing. Much like the third Pac-JMM fight will be the forgotten one eventually.

Ali's charismatic personality also added to the rivalry.

As much hype as Pacquiao-Marquez has, it still couldn't compare to the levels of Ali-Frazier I and III.

In terms of only the boxing it well could be Pacquiao vs Marquez or Barerra vs Morales.

However if you include its social magnitude then Frazier vs Ali wins.
