I remember him as a boxer with great boxing skills but with an awful chin. He was very talented at his beginnings but his lack of chin didn't allow him come too far.

i was never impressed with Fres. i really cannot say what it was that turned me off. i think it was the way he disappeared during title fights. well it looks like he will get a chance to change (or prove) any negative perceptions about him.

The new WBA rankings are ******.

Fres Oquendo hasn't beaten a top 50 heavyweight. Neither have or Richard Towers or Jovo Pudar.

They are making the sport of boxing look ******.

              regional title!!!!!!!

he holds a WBA regional belt(fedelatin)which gives him a top 10 in WBA rankings. this isn't rocket science people. just like i told you all the WBO was not a world title until mid 2000s. none of you listened & i provided proof.WHEN YOU HOLD A MAJOR SANCTIONING BODIES REGIONAL BELT IT GIVES YOU A TOP 10 RANKING IN THEIR RANKINGS ONLY. it doesn't matter if he beat a top 50 guy or top 37466446464666 guy. if he holds a regional belt it automatically gives him a top 10-15 ranking & it's usually in the top 10. sherman williams, chauncy welliver were perfect examples of what regional belts do for your rankings. how many times do i got to explain this? tony grano(NABF) champion. he beat brian minto & i believe is top 5 in WBC. did he beat a top 50 HW? no he did not but he won an important regional belt for the WBC.

Hahaha. Johnny One Note strikes again.

How is the fact that a corrupt boxing org decides to high rank a guy like Oquendo a reflection on the talent in the heavyweight division?

One thing has nothing to do with the other.

The heavyweight division needs the talented young fighters like Abdusalamov, Jennings, Wilder, and Glazkov to take out the garbage like Oquendo and Pudar.

Unfortunately, these fights too rarely get made.

There's lots of good younger talent in the HW division, yep.

Fury and Price are still relatively young as well, 24 and 29.

Mere pups when you consider Wlad is 36 and Vitali 41.

                      Don't be in denial.

The fact that no one better has emerged to take Oquendo's spot is totally a reflection of the talent in the heavyweight division.
