Trout was unproven/untested before he fought Cotto, but he was receiving very little hype. People weren't picking him to win because of the fact that he was unproven. On the other hand, Canelo is an unproven fighter with a lot of hype behind him, hence the term "hypejob" being an appropriate label for him. Some fans would pick Canelo against all the other LMWs, regardless of his previous competition.

Huge difference. Hype is floating along getting all these props for doing nothing. Unproven is more like a young fella waiting on his step up usually with little fanfare.

Right now I say yes but not a bum. I do believe he's now learning to box instead of just trying to power guys out. I used to criticize the hell out of him but in hind sight GB did the right thing. He just wasn't ready. I thought he was what he was. Improving every fight now's show and tell time.
