I like Martinez: BUT rematching Junior is like Floyd rematching Marquez for $$$

Well they're both recognized, here's IBHOF list, which you've probably seen before anyway.
I could see him ahead of guys like Arturo Gatti, Virgil Hill, Yuh Myung-woo, Mark Johnson, Danny Lopez, Brian Mitchell, Orlando Canizales, Galindez or any of the post early-1980s guys in there who only held a single title in a single division and never unified titles.Comment

I think the outcome of the rematch depends entirely on Chavez. If he trains the way he did in the first fight it will be another beating. If Chavez attempts to throw more punches he will run out of steam a lot quicker due to counter punches and his stamina running low due to him throwing more punches.
If he trains like he should then he could probably win, but only due to his size advantage. Based on skills Martinez is on another level.
I actually don't think that Chavez will be able to make the 160 weight limit for the rematch. He does not like to train when he has a busy schedule. Imagine what he is doing now that he has a long layoff. I doubt he is at the gym keeping in shape.Comment

Too Sharp was a P4P for so long I lost track. I agree Martinez could be over Gatti but he hasn't imprinted himself on the sport the way Gatti has. Martinez has more of a Vernon Forrest career with a couple big wins and it ending too soon.Well they're both recognized, here's IBHOF list, which you've probably seen before anyway.

It's not all just about wins IMOComment

There's easily about 10 or 20 less deserving guys on there. Martinez could easily make it on merit. The real question is whether he garnered enough popularity to make it in.Too Sharp was a P4P for so long I lost track. Marc Johnson was a P4P from 1996-1999 over four years but never got higher than 5th (#10 in 96', #10 in 97', #5 in 98', #6 in 99'). His resume isn't all that great either and he never unified titles.Too Sharp was a P4P for so long I lost track. Martinez has been P4P from 2010-2012 for around 3 years so far, going as high as #3 and arguably #2 (http://sports.espn.go.com/sports/box...dan&id=6222815).

It's not 3 decent years, its been 3 great years (and counting...) as the lineal middleweight champ and he was the #1 ranked Junior Middleweight before that, where he held the WBC and IBO titles.Comment

Next year isn't looking too promising though, that is where he is faultering and harming his legacy.Comment
