Corrales had the option of canceling the fight because Castillo didn't come in at Lightweight. He opted to fight Castillo in a non-title fight and they had the second weigh in to see what weight they would set the fight as. It was billed as a Welterweight "special event" because Castillo came in at 147 on his FOURTH time at the scale. If the situation was reversed and Corrales, the champ, didn't make weight he could have been stripped of the belts. Those are the rules because weight matters.
Lol, and if Castillo had gone over the limit by more than 2 lousy lbs. more people might take the wt. excuse more seriously. 2 lb's people..thats silly.

the additional weight played no part in castillo winning that fight. this has been discussed many many times. this is a dead issue, let it go.

Exactly! Besides the fact that Castillo was NOT the one to do that to the scales, some folks act like being 2 lb's over the limit at the weigh in is a big deal, but spitting out a mouthpiece repeately to buy time is O.K.A.Y. Amazing what some chose to ignore, or justify...while making a federal case of the things that dont matter.
