WTF are you talking about? Corrales made weight (at 135 exactly) at the weigh in the day before the fight. Castillo had the normal three attempts to make weight at the official weigh in the day before the fight but he came in heavy. Corrales had the option of canceling the fight because Castillo didn't come in at Lightweight. He opted to fight Castillo in a non-title fight and they had the second weigh in to see what weight they would set the fight as. It was billed as a Welterweight "special event" because Castillo came in at 147 on his FOURTH time at the scale. If the situation was reversed and Corrales, the champ, didn't make weight he could have been stripped of the belts. Those are the rules because weight matters.Originally posted by Super_LightweightTired of hearing all the whining about the weight. Boo ****in hoo. Castillo had to weigh in the day of the fight as well which is something Corralles did NOT have to do.Comment

Castillo needs to be banned from Boxing. He or his camp members pre-planned that whole cheat at the scales fiasco. how would someone even think to put their foot under the scael at the weigh in you know? Such things put an additional black eye on boxing and the weight definitely helped. I used to like both Castillo and Corrales. but after the weight fiasco all respect for castillo went down the tubes. His pre-planned cheat needs to land him outside of boxing.Comment

you make it sound like this was one of the worst things to happen to boxing, using words like "fiasco" and "cheat".Originally posted by RiptorCastillo needs to be banned from Boxing. the additional weight played no part in castillo winning that fight. this has been discussed many many times. this is a dead issue, let it go.Comment

Dead issue my ass, being weight drained makes a difference. I only had a little bit of amateur experience but it does matter, especially in the lighter weights. Corrales made weight, Castillo didn't. That would have been fine without any other incident because Corrales chose to take the fight regardless. The fact that a member of Castillo's camp tried to cheat the official weigh in IS a big deal. I won't go so far as to say that Castillo was in on it because I'm not privy to what happened behind the scenes. It certainly wasn't one of the worst incidents in the history of boxing, but it was still utterly classless. The ******* who tried to put his foot under the scale should have been banned from participating in the sport permanently.Comment
