I'm sorry, but the tougher fight for Donaire will be Rigo, not Mares

I could actually see how you would think this way. I don't agree though. Mares has fought better fighters than Rigo easy. People say there's nothing special about Mares but there is. He's a steadfast body puncher with good defense behind a tough guard. It ain't pretty but its enough to win. I see that giving Donaire the most trouble. Rigondeax will leave openings and Donaire will find a home for that left. With Rigo's chin it will only take one. Mares will be 12 long rounds.Comment

It's not hard to look spectacular when you haven't fought anybody.
Donaire and Mares both have multiple legitimate World Champions and top ranked contenders in their resumes.
Rigo doesn't even look spectacular. He's been hurt many time and has shown flaws against guys with any kind of offensive ability.Comment

I just think Mares is a proven commodity. With Rigo we don't know exactly how good he really is yet, because it's easy to beat subpar foes.Comment

I think some people misunderstood the thread title, by tougher i meant that he will have to work harder to beat Rigo, compared to Mares who will be in front of Donaire taking shots to the temple for about 6 rounds.Comment

Donaire vs Rigondeaux would be a tougher fight for Nonito. I think this fight would be more of a chess match. I still see Nonito pulling out the W if this fight gets made. Mares is a good fighter. He throws punches in bunches but he leaves himself wide open to get hit with that left hook. He really needs to work on defense.Comment

The fight will become even very quickly if the ref allows Mares to throw his nut shots on a consistent basis.Comment

Rigo is a tomato can crusher who has never beaten anyone of note and can't even create his own offense, his offensive game is actually laughable for someone with an AM background like his.Comment
