Right now Sergio, but Mares is young so if he can continue in the same path he's going he'll pass him in no time.

Pavlik, Williams, Chavez Jr, Dzinziruk, Macklin, Cintron vs Moreno, Agbeko, Darchinyan, Morel

Martinez won all his in much more sensational fashion and picked up more titles along the way.

Mares has Darchinyan and Moreno on his resume, while Martinez has Pavlik and Williams. I would give a slight edge to Mares in that department. However, Mares barely scrapped by Vic while Martinez holds decisive victories over his biggest names. Mares will most likely surpass Martinez because he's only 27.

You also have to keep in mind that Bantamweight was not Darchinyan's best weight (4 losses in 7 fights and no KO's). Moreno was also moving up in weight when he fought Mares. Martinez went up in weight against both Williams (already had 2 middleweight fights) in their first fight and the lineal champ in Pavlik (a huge middleweight at the time); taking both fights in short notice as a last minute replacement.
