Iirc Collins was suffering blackouts and had to retire.
Wins over Benn and Eubank arent impressive. UK fans always overrate their champions. Benn and Eubank were overrated and Collins didnt dominate either of them. Nobody outside the UK would even know who Nigel Benn is if it weren't for his fight with McClellan. All three of them were jokes compared to Roy. Like I said if he fought every guy who wanted a piece he'd have to fight everyday for his whole life.

So He retired and calls out Jones Jr while he retired but ducked Calzaghe at the same time.

      Jones Jr vs Frazier 01/09/1999
      Collins last fight was 07/05/1997

Lol, you've gotta be kidding surely?

He also beat Reggie Johnson when Johnson was very good, in his prime though he got robbed.

Steve Collins was nails, his resume, everything about him is underrated and with all due respect to Roy, I can guarantee Collins would of been a lot tougher fight than most of the bums he fought at the times Collins was calling him out.
Roy has gone on record and said Eubank would of gave him hell. I dont think many on here realise how good prime Eubank was or that British era tbh but if it was Americans you can be sure you'd of never heard the end of it.
Collins beat an undedeated Eubank twice! & Benn twice, Pyatt etc

Iran Barkley and Doug DeWitt might know him, he KO'd both in the States. Gerald McClellan was the third notable American Benn beat, and let's not forget who McClellan beat in the amateurs (clue, his initials were RJJ).

If you want to talk jokes, the real joke in all this is that Roy was a drugs cheat and half the fighter after he was caught. But putting that to one side, Steve Collins wasn't just 'any guy', he was a world champion, a credible opponent.

He spent years chasing a unification. The Pensicola incident was after he'd already retired and got sick of chasing Roy.

Roy then said Collins had to beat Calzaghe to get a shot, Collins was in camp preparing for Joe when he suffered a blackout and had to undergo brain scans.

Collins is a future Hall of Famer, and those who say Benn, Eubank and Collins were jokes don't know what they are talking about.
When Benn beats Iran Barkley, those wins don't count. But when Duran beats Barkley, it is so awesome it is unreal, right?
Some people here have no clue about Collins, Benn and Eubank
