well they were wrong. they shouldn't have respected him. i'm a hardcore boxing fan and knew it was a terrible fight. fights between smaller mid-level contenders moving up against linear champs usually don't end well for the guy moving up. also when you factor in dzinziruk's robot style, anyone should have known it was a complete beatdown in the making.

martinez wanted big fights for years before he got them, lots of soft foes on his record for sure but not by choice. his resume isnt that great but i still rate him highly based on ability, in the tough fights he has had hes shown tremendous ability.
bull.........at middleweight he could have fought Geale, Pirog, Golovkin. all A class middleweights.

& rating someone based on ability is like me saying broner is p4p number 5 due to potential and ability........same thing.

The man can fight. He started late so I'll give him a pass on most of his fights but you can't deny he's stepped it up and has consistently been up to test himself. He needs to end his career, which is quickly coming to its end due to that late start, with some solid wins. I think everyone here would agree a fight against Mayweather would be tremendous. Hope it happens.

He came on late in his career. I think for a while he was getting overrated but now days he seems to be rated fairly and most people dont consider him an ATG but consider him a good fighter which he is. I think Winky was a better fighter just as a comparison for example

interestingly enough floyd ducked both of them. that's kinda like the stamp of approval for this era. if floyd won't fight you, you must be the real deal. if floyd does fight you....oof that's gotta hurt your self confidence.

Pirog's biggest win is against a prospect and it isn't as if Geale has proven that much either. Murray and Macklin put in similar efforts against Sturm and he had the benefit of seeing both of those fights before he got his chance.

I do think Golovkin has great potential, but his biggest win is against Proksa, which ain't bad. It just isn't that impressive either. At this point Golovkin is still high risk-low reward for Sergio since he has not been able to establish a big fan base since other contenders seem to avoid him.
