Some overrate it, some underrate it.

He did shut Clottey down with his activity. That's just how Clottey responds to that kind of fighter.

However, give him the right kind of opponent and he'll overachieve (Cotto).

TS is just a cowardly alt that's trolling.

These simpletons love to over rate Clottey just because Floyd didn't fight the bum. What's even worse is they look past the fact that Pac ducked Floyd to fight the losing bum that didn't deserve a fight like that.

YFR(Yeah ****ing Right) lol...Did MP even land cleanly? NO! IMO MP was pretty lucky clottey didnt fight throughout the fight cause the punches that clottey did land, landed with ease knocking MP face back..

Clottey was a huge welterweight (rehydrating to 170lbs I believe). He gave everybody problems in the division. He was on his way to beating Margarito before he broke his hand, beat Judah & Corrales, and lost a very debatable decision to Cotto that many felt he won (I personally thought Cotto won, but have no problem with people saying otherwise). Pac completely shut him out. It was a good, solid victory for him. Nothing special, but certainly not a joke of a victory that people make it out to be.

            Completely agree with TS.

Clottey was a big and strong welterweight, he was supremely tough and when he let his hands go was quick and hit hard.

Problem was he only let his hands go when his opponent stopped punching, which for Pac during this era was never. Hence why it looks like Clottey didnt try in the fight, he did what he always does, its just that pacs style was perfect for him. Call it 'good matchmaking' maybe, but it takes ridiculous fitness, power, and footwork to shut out Clottey over 12.

lol true...but i think the fear of ending up like cotto had something to do with it as well because i think in an interview he did with max kellerman he said something about not wanting to go out like cotto did (and how could you blame him). but clottey is a decent fighter...he gave cotto hell, and is a strong fighter. understandably, his performance against pacquiao turned a lot of people off. but it was a decent win..much better than beating margarito and mosley.

Damn i bet Bob Arum was pissed if Clottey said that! One thing you dont want a fighter to say is that hes scared (ask Vic Ortiz).

Despite this i didnt see that much different in Clottey against Pac than i did against Cotto. He just isnt a risk taker, and against this version of Pac the risk was always there right in his face, ****ing him to the body and head/arms, whereas against Cotto, Clottey had opportunities to attack while Cotto wasnt punching.

I may be a little bias because i was proper high on Clottey back in the day! Dude was just so damn tough!

Clottey is strong but not tough. He looks for a way out of a fight when under duress unless he has no choice but to fire back. But he'll do his best to get out, such as using headbutts (Baldomir), feining injury or he'll flat out stop fighting. I picked him to quit against Pacquiao and he did--just not in the way I anticipated.
