Yup it was obvious for a while now. ever since they were talking about mayweather fighting twice in 2013, i knew it was gonna be to setup mayweather vs canelo in september.

    • In my years of being a boxing fan I have never seen so much hate towards an undefeated fighter. Its crazy how people call themselves boxing fans but yet s**t on one of the best fighters in this era. Floyd Mayweather is the only fighter in history (and please correct me if I'm wrong) to have captured titles in five divisions while maintaining an undefeated streak. I mean come on that is one hell of an accomplishment. What I don't get is that when Floyd fought DLH, Hatton, Marquez, Mosley, and Cotto they were all bums, past their prime, etc. Floyd caught more criticism then praise for those fights. But when Pacquiao fights and beats these guys its like the best thing since sliced bread.

But lets break down the comparisons and you tell me whose the better fighter

Lets start off with DLH. When Floyd fought DLH it was at 1541bs, Oscar was strong and comfortable at the weight while Mayweather at the first time in his career had to come up in weight. Hell Floyd didnt even weigh in at the full limit of that fight, he was 150. Floyd wins the fight by SD. Floyd doesnt get much credit. Okay here comes Pacquiao. The fight was fought with a catch weight of 145, pretty much the welterweight limit. DLH hadnt fought at that weight since his knockout win of Arturo Gatti which was seven years earlier. No matter how good in shape you are, you can't possibly perform at your greatest in a situation like that. Granted it was DLH's decision to do that. Pac beats him like crazy and DLH quits. Now everybody is calling Pacquiao the greatest. Are you serious? He beat a walking zombie. I knew how the fight was gonna go the moment the weight was announced. Point is Mayweather fought and beat DLH when he was stronger and comfortable, Pacquiao didnt.

Now lets do Cotto. With Pac and Cotto yes it was another catch weight fight. The contracted limit was 145 again. I always questioned the fact that roach was confident in pacquiao, but yet never wanted him to go the full limit as to protect him. Are you serious? Anyways the fight happens and Pac beats the crap out of him. Good win for Pac and gets more praise. Fast forward to when May fights him. They actually fight at 154, which was Cotto's division. Cotto is strong and comfortable at that weight, also coming off a 3-win knockout streak at the time. Again there is no catch weight. Floyd actually moves up to fight him, a task that Pacquiao was reluctant to do when offered a rematch. Hmmmm? If he is so great then why didnt he just move up. Anyways Floyd pulls off a SD win and gets no praise at all. Just "good win for Floyd" even though he put himself at higher risk then Pacquiao.

Last but not least, Juan Manuel Marquez. In four fights Pacquiao has a draw, 2 struggled wins, and recently got knocked unconcious by the mexican legend. Floyd fights him once and completely schools him for 12 rounds. He accomplished in 1 fight that Pacquiao failed to do in 4, which is get a solid win against Marquez. And people used the weight as an excuse. That is a load of crap because Pacquiao fought Marquez twice at that weight and came out with a controversial win and a knockout loss.

So when you look at these comparisons how can someone who truly understands this sport place Pacquiao over Mayweather. When it comes to excitement, yeah Pacquiao has the edge. But in regards to overall skill come on its a no brainer. And what I find completely hilarious is that when it comes to Mayweather these opponents they were cherry picked bums. HELLO! Pacquaio fought the same guys so what does that say about him. Are so called fans so blinded by pacquiaos offensive style that it clouds their judgment on who is actually the better fighter. All i have to say is Floyd is undefeated, Pacquiaos not. And in those defeats he's been knocked out three times. Granted I say he is still one hell of an accomplished fighter and one of the best in this era. But to put him above Mayweather is insane in my opinion.

But they aren't. Martinez, Pacquiao and Marquez (at the right weight) are all better bets. Heck, even Trout is a tougher opponent on paper.

As for Mayweather retiring undefeated, the guy is a ******** addict who spends money like water and has no income outside of boxing. You think if he stops fighting that money is going to stay around? Mayweather is going to be the next Roy Jones, on a world knockout tour.

No one is calling for Floyd to fight Pac, Marquez rematch, or Trout right now. Not even Trout himself.

Sergio hasn't been to 154 in 4 years and 8 fights, when will people recognize he's not going to fight there anymore???

I think if Floyd offered him the fight he would take it. Floyd has shown the reluctance not Sergio. Sergio has even offered a catchweight and Floyd has said it is possible at a catchweight, but then suggested that Martinez fight Dirrell first.

Martinez now says he is not going to go out of his way to try and fight Floyd and I don't blame him. If Floyd wants him then he will offer him the fight. After Canelo which fight will be as marketable for Floyd? Floyd may just end up fighting Martinez within the next few years since it could be very successful if marketed aggressively.

                • Again people can complain all they want but there isn't much choice as we all know, throwing in names like Molina, K9, trout, JMM II etc is just laughable, at 147 the options are Paulie M, Alexander, Guerrero, Mosley who just unretired, and no am not going to mention Arum fighters because there is no point.

Anyone fooled by Chris John's, I mean Floyd Mayweather's, undefeated record hasn't looked to closely, because besides a win over Marquez it reads like a role call at the soup kitchen, bums. If he would fight martinez, some of his wwf type gans fantasies might resemble the truth, but even that should have happened years ago. Floyd is perhaps the most protected, knit picky matchmade fighter in history and Bronner is well on his way to follow in his idol's footsteps. Until further notice, Andre Ward is the #1 P4P.
Man shut the phuck up, you sound real ******. You say Floyd should fight Sergio who fights at 160?? Get out of here... No Sergio should fight Peter Quilin aka kid Chocolate or GGG... Are somebody in his weight class. Floyd usually fights at 147 that is two weight classes below middle weight. How would that sound if Chad Dawson who fights at 175 was like "For my next fight I want Sergio." Would you say Sergio is scared for not wanting to face Chad Dawson who is clearly bigger than him??

Ok then shut the hell up!
