I think Martinez would disagree since it would result in the largest payday of his career. That is a "win" for an old fighter who has not been a box office superstar.

I also don't see how "old" factor should be brought up since both of them are.

At 154 Floyd destroys Martinez. Its not even a contest.

Even at 154, I'd still bet on a weight drained Martinez to beat a flat-footed Mayweather.

This. Floyd is already pushing it 154, but to take on a middleweight god damn thats crazy.

i think it would be the ultimate challenge, for fmj to reeealy put his skills to the test, against the legit middleweight champ...i'd put it above jones beating ruiz @ heavy...i could see fmj coming in @ 154, and contracting sergio to stick @ 160 come fight nite, if its possible....

Lol... Why wouldn't it? The knee becomes a problem when constant movement is needed. He won't need constant movement for floyd. Floyd won't be running and he won't be chasing.

You either think too highly of floyd or don't think highly at all of Martinez. Why was Floyd/Cotto a good scrap then?

It's a good thing we'll see how it fares in March against Murray. If he whoops Murray and looks good doing it, Floyd will be like "Martinez who?" Sergio doesn't strike me as a dumb guy, if he thinks the knee will prevent him from performing properly, he won't fight. He said he had a hurt knee in the Barker fight or something but I don't know if he just said that, seems pretty honest to me though.

As good as Floyd is, Martinez has a very sneaky style and he is very fast as well as very straight puncher. He would eventually catch Floyd flush and I think he would drop Floyd with a solid blow. Sergio moves around way too much for Floyd to have a comfortable fight, not a good fight for Floyd. UD for Sergio or KO......any point in the fight.
