It's just marketing, in my opinion.

There is a large asian-american community in the US, but not many fighters to rapresent it. Many countries in Asia are growing, thus have more importance in the global market.

A popular asian fighter has a huge chance of creating interest.

Marquez is a different case, there are many mexican fighters, he is "expendable" from a marketing point of view.

If HBO favors the Filipino fighters I doubt it has anything to do with race, cultural or any other factor! I think they favor to use those fighters because "they come to fight"! If your promoting boxing your assured that if Manny or Donaire on headlining your show you WILL have an action main event! Your advertizing of a great show with a great main event is not in jepardy when you use these fighters!! Those ARE the facts!!! Ray.

dont think theyre un love with them... just pacquiao.... and nonito (because they hold out hope that he can be just as successful for them) ... that was lame though (what Lampley said on the last fight game)... still think Ariza is a dirty coach... itll come out one day.... it always does

Instead lampley suggests pacquiao suffered an injustice at the hands of Marquez and goes onto protect Nonito's untainted name, coincidentally a filipino.
Because Manny is HBO's cash cow. HBO/Jim don't care if Manny is taking or might be talking PEDs, HBO/Jim only care if his opponent are.

              Fuk them.

              No surprise here.

don't think its just filipinos, i think HBO did the same thing with ODH. But manny and nonito have a fanbase that tends to be ultra nationalistic and HBO wants to continue to tap into it to draw huge ratings.
