no doubt about it... if jesus chavez had some success againts floyd the way he fought him, im a firm believr tony would've beaten the **** out of floyd....stylewise, floyd has a better chance of beating sergio at a fair weight than he had againts margarito

margo would've been a night mare for floyd to deal with .. big ,strong , pressure fighter with chin who never stopped punching = night mare for floyd

And it had little to do with money. There was an interview out there that Floyd said, something like "That is why I didn't fight Margarito, I knew there was something wrong about him"
Did you really just compare Floyd Mayweather to Sergio Martinez?

Scratch that, did you really just compare Floyd Mayweather to 17 fights Sergio Martinez?

Well you got to be an intelligent "runner" not just a guy that could run, Cotto ran towards the end of his first fight with Rito and he got KTFO, Sergio was a cyclist so I can understand why he running was movement, If you give Margarito movement, with intelligent holding/clinching when he gets close and a bit of power and a jab to keep him honest then it's a UD for you.

Margarito is a weak inside fighter, all he can throw are uppercuts and body shots, two punches that Floyd defends against very well

I think it would be a good fight to watch, I disagree with a majority of people here saying floyd would "box circles around him", I think Floyd would fight on the inside for most of the fight. Margarito has the advantage if you allow him to force you backwards the whole fight, that's a good way to gas out

Floyd wouldn't have to fight off his back foot against margarito, if he made that decision he would still win but it would make it a lot harder for him as he would be allowing margarito to get extension on his punches and he does have power with or without plaster, fighting him on the inside like Mosley did is the key to "easily" beating Margarito and Floyd is a superb inside fighter

Come on if Floyd vs Maragrito had been Made Floyd would have worked his ass off soo hard in training camp Margarito would be Hitting air for 12 rounds Mayweather would do a corrales type performance come on guys. Floyd was intimidated i admit but who wouldnt be by Margarito dosent mean Maragrito would win inside the ring though.

No, but I would have loved to see the fight. In 2005, that would have been a good fight and Floyd would have had to be at his best. That would have been a very good win for Mayweather if he took the fight and won.

Mayweather was with Top Rank when the Margarito fight could have happened. That excuse didn't exist.

Mayweather has too much for a one-dimensional fighter. Back then he still had his foot speed to go with his skill, he would have hit and moved all night. Those long uppercuts are not landing against Mayweather.

Not to mention we don't know how good Margarito actually was...
