Physical gifts or not Trout is a boxer, his style is to outpoint you. Margarito brings the fight to you, so expect to be hurt and have your defense tested.
Cotto just got tired of chasing the guy. The clinching was excessive. Not something to be proud of for a win against a fading Cotto.

I think if this fight gets made, the Canelo hype will come down considerably. Canelo should be facing one world class opponent before this fight. Nevertheless, I think it'll be competitive but a Mayweather win by UD. I'd love to see Canelo knock Mayweather out, and then Mayweather will know he has to take the Pac fight to get back into the limelight.

I would have love to see Canelo in another fight against a tougher opponent at 154 before facing Mayweather, but if that happens then Mayweather would be critise for letting Canelo take tough fight etc

Tough fight for Mayweather, he really has declined of late, specially in the Cotto fight. I respect Mayweather for fighting Cotto when boxing him was simply not enough. If he takes this fight props to him on taking a dangerous fight at this particular stage in his career.

                It all depends on Floyd.

If his legs, stamina and reflexes are still with him, I do not see any other outcome than Canelo being counter-punched all night.

Canelo seems rather predictable, he (too) often throws that jab -straight right combination to the head, which I can see Floyd time and counter.

Even if he manages to put Floyd against the ropes, Canelo didn't manage to knock down Cotto (jr) when he was hardly fighting back and obviously stunned, I have difficulties in seeing Floyd overwhelmed by this kind of power.

If Floyd is still half of the fighter he used to be in his prime, I don't see Canelo defeating him. In my opinion a guy like Trout would cause Floyd more problems, stylistically.

Trout would be a hard fight for Floyd imo

If an old Mosley hurt Mayweather, then young guys like Canelo and Trout could potentially catch Mayweather with bigger shots.

I wouldn't bet it on though. But with every fight, Mayweather is on the decline, and he hasn't fought a lot of guys at 154.
