He didn't switch religion, he is still a christian, he switched denomination. From catholic to protestant.
If you understood the protestant movement, the constant bible study is a dead giveaway.

I believe it happened after the Marquez 3 fight and definitely leading up to the Bradley fight. It all got buried into the news of his wife wanting to leave him and that he needed to change his livelihood, so he found new faith.

Well thanks. That's what I thought. I figured it would've been headline making news since almost every move Manny makes gets reported somewhere.

Though, I don't think the protestant movement has a monopoly on constant bible study.

I'm sure there are folks who are fanatical about bible study in other religions/denominations.
