"I never thought that Juan could knock out Pacquiao. Juan is not a [power puncher]. He is a very precise fighter, and hits hard but not violently. He gets you with three shots in a row at the tip of the chin and he hurts you, but not like [what happened with the punch that hit Pacquiao]. What happened was a phenomenon," - Nacho Bernstein

Look at Marquez catching his sparring partner with that same lucky shot :
Goddamn, he must have a 4 leaf clover in his trunks or something...

The more this thread goes on, the more the agenda of thread starter is revealed. We get it. You're sore that Pacquiao got knocked into unconsciousness, even though he was doing well. You can't accept that Marquez, despite preparing meticulously to land a specific punch, despite saying before the fight he was going for a knock out, despite having fought Pacquiao three times before therefore knowing his habits in the ring, despite being a great counter-pnuncher with timing and technique- actually managed to pull it off. It's clear this whole "lucky punch" thread is a thin veil trying to cover a deep disappointment that Manny Pacquiao suffered a loss in a manner few anticipated.
One thing that any boxing fan knows is that fight patterns, points and punch stats mean nothing when a knockout punch lands. It's the part of the appeal of sport, the savage beauty of boxing. It's something Manny Pacquiao himself seems to understand better than the thread starter. Looking at the footage, it is plainly clear that Marquez knew exactly what he was doing, what he had prepared and planned to do. He didn't move first and hope that Pac would fall into his punch. He reacted to Manny's lunge with a perfect counter. Deal with it as this thread is a farce. An attempt at a more sophistocated way of saying: "I can't wrap my head around my hero getting knocked out cold and need a way to discredit the man who beat him". See? One sentence would've done.

And i am not arguing that Marquez didnt know what he was doing, overhand right agaisnt a southpaw is a textbook punch.... the fact i knockd out Pacman cold though.. IS LUCK...im confident that JMM would of thrown that punch at that moment even if Pacquiao wasnt rushing in...becuase he threw that exact punch at the 10 second mark, with on clear intention other than hoping Pac would rush into the fist.

and my official opinion on pacquiao is that he is one of the most overrated fighter who has fought nothing but drained, washed up past their prime fighters coming off huge losses. JMM in his prime, was far better than Pacquiao ever was or will be...but at this point, Pacman is the better boxer...not because he surpassed JMM in skill..but because JMM is on the downhill slope of his career.
