theres no such thing as a lucky punch.

a fighter can dominate a fight, get sloppy once, get knocked out and its still not luck. its boxing, like emanuel steward used to say thats what seperates this sport from all others.

the fact that one fighter gets sloppy in is a flaw on his part and the oponents ability to capitalize on any single mistake is a strenght on his part. and lets keep in mind pacquiao was far form dominating the fight, he had the upper hand but it was very competetive.

but pacquiao always makes mistakes, thats always been a flaw of his. marquez has always been a sharpshooter that will make you pay for every mistake you make. that translates into trouble if you are manny pacquiao and its the main reason marquez had mannys number all these years.

the punch itself was as masterful as you could throw. he clearly set pacquiao up, timed him and walked him into it while slipping a punch himself at the same time. anyone who argues it wasnt skillfully executed is a fool.

in the past marquez would make pacquiao miss and counter him as he would get off balance, one of his biggest flaws. for this fight he decided to catch pacquiao coming in instead, bigger risk but also a bigger reward when perfectly executed. he pulled it off.

you can say manny just made a mistake or got overconfident all you want to, its just pointing out his biggest flaw as a fighter. not much of an excuse.

Jesus, some of you guys are ridiculous!!!
It was no lucky punch. JMM countered a lazy ass jab and nuked Manny. So what, it happens, get over it. Too many of you ****ers are too emotionally involved in this ****, acting like a bunch of women, bitter and jealous.

it's mainly the thread starter who claims to not have anything against jmm but it sure seems like it, or the *******s who just can't accept the fact that their man was finally made to pay for bad habits

            You're right.

Thread Starter: "Please explain in great detail why you believe there is no such thing as a lucky punch." He didn't say this but we can all read between the lines.

Another poster:"... blah blah blah... great explanation why there are no lucky punches"

Thread Starter:"I disagree. JMM threw a lucky punch."

There's no such thing as a purely lucky punch. When you throw a punch, you are trying to hit the other fighter and do the most damage you can.

If two guys who don't know what they're doing swing at each other and one punch lands and knocks the other guy out, it's a lucky punch. This applies to street fights and backyard boxing. Professional boxers know what they're doing, they've been doing it since they were kids, landing punches on their opponent's chin is what they train to do 24/7, it's their bread and butter. Accusing a boxer of landing a lucky punch is like saying a basketball player scored a lucky 3 pts shot.

                Tell that to Mosley :

When is Pacquiao not reckless? Jumping in recklessly is what he does, it's like saying Pacquiao was lucky that Hatton was coming forward recklessly which created an opportunity for his overhand left. It's not lucky to take advantage of something your opponent does all the freaking time.

Marquez had 36 rounds of experience against him combined with high ring IQ, which helped him develop the perfect counter. Something he's been working on for weeks, read this and learn.

Exactly!!! You throw a punch with the intention of it connecting, so when in lands how can it be luck?

Unless Marquez meant to throw a feint and Pacquiao ran onto the feint? Lol

Or if someone means to throw an uppercut to the body and his opponent trips on his own boot lace and his chin drops onto the uppercut

That's the first I've heard of that but nothing surprises me on here lol

Check Hooks and his petition to get Marquez tested is golden
