Definitely would be more competitive in my opinion. Mayweather would probably still win clearly on points, but with Marquez in proper condition there's no way Mayweather shuts him out in the rematch. Marquez wouldn't fight Mayweather the same way anyway, he's already fought him before so being a ring technician he'll learn from the first fight. But, so will Mayweather. The difference is that Mayweather didn't fight a good version of Marquez, whereas Marquez fought a decent version of Mayweather (even though he'd been out the ring for a while.)

      Nope.

Maybe this time Marquez would win a round, but I'd say another 12-0 shutout is more likely than a remotely competitive fight.

Mayweather never used his weight to overpower Marquez. He beat him with skills. If they were the same weight, Mayweather would still have the skills to beat him. And it's not power that dropped Pacquiao. It's timing. Pac was more aggressive, the more aggressive you are the harder you are going to collide into a punch. It's science. In another words, it's logic. In another words, it's reality.

I don't care what anybody says. The Marquez that Floyd beat was just as good, if not better than the one that just knocked Pacquiao out.

          Styles make fights.

Keep in mind, Pacquiao was winning the fight and beating Marquez to the punch before he got caught with that shot. Marquez was bloodied and on wobbly legs.

He showed a lot of grit and determination and I give him full credit but nothing he did last night leads me to believe that a fight vs. Mayweather would be any different.
well said. maybe jmm wins a round or 2 but other than that it'll be a replay of the first fight

Maybe just a bit more competitive, but I doubt it would last longer than 2-3 rounds before it starts looking like the same fight. Floyd just mentally deflates guys, even warriors like Marquez.

I don't mind seeing a rematch between Marquez and Floyd since Marquez went up in weight properly this time. But, he was slow last night.
love JMM and I thought he won the last fight but come on, he's developed Pacquao-style power at 39?
