He won his Marg rematch everyone loved Diaz. Then he went to his next fight and everyone changed ship. He was never going to beat Mayweather... can't blame him there. Then Cotto decided to fight a strong young champion who's got a tough style to beat, and he lost. This doesn't fall on Diaz... there probably isn't a trainer in the world that would of helped Cotto to win his last two fights.Comment

Agreed. Cotto had virtually no chance to beat Floyd. Trout wasn't much better. He won his Marg rematch everyone loved Diaz. Then he went to his next fight and everyone changed ship. He was never going to beat Mayweather... can't blame him there. Then Cotto decided to fight a strong young champion who's got a tough style to beat, and he lost. This doesn't fall on Diaz... there probably isn't a trainer in the world that would of helped Cotto to win his last two fights.
Here's what ESPN's Dan Rafael had to say about the Cotto-Trout match-up:
"Folks from Golden Boy and Top Rank begged Cotto not to fight Austin Trout because of his slick, defensive style that was all wrong for Cotto. But Cotto, now his own promoter, didn't listen. He picked Trout and paid the price, losing a clear decision in a Dec. 1 title challenge in front of Cotto's fans at New York's Madison Square Garden. The loss probably ruined a planned May 4 mega showdown with Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez."Comment

If you watched Cotto over the years you know he was more of a vulnerable brawler with a vicious punch that has had to become more boxer than brawler because hes attributes are leaving him, he's best days where he's punch was abusive are gone and Diaz and Steward both tried to teach an old dog new trick, Plaster trauma and all considered he hasn't done all that bad, Good fight with Mayweather got He's revenge over Cheato and lost on Points to a More natural boxer than him, it was to be expected.Comment

Pedro Diaz is just fine, the problem is his boxer Cotto. Pedro brought many new ideas and strategies to the table. I do not think that Cotto's stubbornness provided fertile ground for desired outcomes.
Most recently was Pedro's idea to train up in Big Bear. They should have stayed up there longer, not sure why they did not, but I get the impression that it was Cotto's idea to go back to TB.
I'm sure his mother's cooking taste great, but I don't think it is an optimal diet for a boxer. If you have the money, pay for a professional chef to cook during your camps.
What happened to Phil Landman, the strength and conditioning coach? I didn't see him around for this last fight.
Cotto can be a stubborn and lazy bastard.Comment

You cant blame the trainer if he instructs a fighter to do a certain thing but the fighter can't execute.People have to stop always blaming the trainer,no trainer would have made Cotto beat Floyd or TroutComment
