They didn't, since Vitali actually offered Haye a shot without Haye needing to fight Chisora. Haye turned it down and elected to fight Chisora instead.

The way I see it is Haye will fight Vitali but not under the conditions that Vitali is asking. There's bullshit coming from both sides here, Haye is not all to blame - although he is a stellar ****.

In Haye's HW time, he's beaten: 3 top 10 ranked (Barrett, Bonin, Chisora), 1 European Champion (Audley), 1 2 time former champion (Ruiz), and 1 champion (Valuev). He ko'd all these guys, bar Valuev who he rocked in the last round. And he also fought against Wlad, losing not as bad as some make it out to be. Wlad was also crap in that fight. Now, add to that he's been unified CW champ and KO'd the recognized champ in 2007, who Wlad chose to fight only this year. Who else in the HW has a resume like that? Other than the Klits, it's unfortunately Holyfield. Pulev and Povetkin would both be KO'd in 4 rounds vs Haye.

Povetkin has also beaten 3 top 10 ranked hw's, a former hw champ, who by the way beat Vitali, and is undefeated.

Haye already had his shot and embarrassed himself.

Chisora was 1-3 in his 3 fights leading up to haye and you still want to call him a top 10 hw. Lol.

Let's be realistic here...

Haye fights tentative against any opponent that is taller than him, he shows good movement and reflexes but can't pull the trigger. Abysmal performance against Valuev, but he did what he had to do. He tried the same against Wlad and had a lot of success with the movement but just didn't throw.

Someone like Pulev would jab Haye's head off and he's a much better boxer than people give him credit for. Haye's got the speed and power to trouble opponents but he also leaks punches and his chin is hardly granite.

Haye's run at heavyweight is quite embarrassing considering his cruiserweight achievements, all bark and no bite. Haye didn't take even take Barrett out in 4 ffs...

Haye beats all the other contenders in terms of hype, the guy has fought no one at heavyweight but he's the best fighter outside of the Klitschkos?

Lets talk about what he has proven and not about what he could, deal with facts not probabilities.

If Vitali should fight Haye it would be a volontary defense. In such a scenario the challenger has no leverage.

I don't think that Haye beating Chisora puts him above Povetkin and Pulev. The way I see it Haye must get in line and prove that he is worthy and not a parttime fighter /reality star getting big money fights off of his big mouth.

Besides he has already been offered a Vitali fight a few times, but has chosen to do other things instead. Personally I am tired of hearing his nuthuggers praise this guy for very little reason.

Haye was offered the fight. When Haye elected to fight Chisora instead they had to find another one for a volontary defense.
