I mean I don't know who the hell Canelo will fight in May, probably Trout. Mayweather vs Guerrero seems like it's going to happen.
Trout is a stylistic nightmare for Canelo

I wouldn't watch Cotto vs Canelo, I wouldn't want my last image of Cotto being beaten from post to post by the younger Canelo, thus ending his career as a stepping stone.

Cotto has no business fighting at 154, he should go down to WW, make a fight against an OK opponent and retire.

If Canelo doesn't fight Trout, Mayweather or a top 10 jr. Middleweight. Than he is more prtected than Chavez Jr. And that says a lot. They keep saying he's gonna be as big as Chavez Sr. But chavez wasn't a p*ssy.

Golden boy is looking at it from a business point of view. Cotto will bring in more money then Trout would ever dream of.

Either way Canelo would destroy both.

Cotto has no business fighting Canelo unless he wants to totally get his ass handed to him. I don't care for Canelo, but I wouldn't mind seeing that fight just to see another Mexican fighter destroy a Borriqua. The rivalry will never never stop so why not have Canelo destroy and retire Cotto.

Yeah, because fighting Mosley/Hatton/Lopez is the equivalent to fighting Trout? Destroying small/old/faded fighters automatically means he walks through a prime true LMW without any issues? Give me a fuckin break.

I think Trout was a ballsy pick for Cotto. He took a high risk fight that not a lot of other top fighters would have touched (no WAY would Golden Boy match Canelo with Trout). He shouldn't be punished for taking a really tough fight and coming up short.

If Cotto's multimillion dollar payday is thrown away because he took a risky fight and lost, it helps reinforce the current precedent, and we won't get to see fights like Cotto-Trout.
Very, very good post. And so true. Cotto is a huge draw. So is Canelo. That fight would still be huge on Cinco De Mayo weekend. Besides, did anybody think last night while Schaefer was consoling Cotto that this fight would really be off the table? I sure didn't.

If Canelo beats Cotto, the same people shitting on Trout will be praising Canelo.
