I was, and still am, one that thinks Canelo should prove himself in the JMW division before getting an opportunity to cash out. An opportunity that I think should go to fighters that have actually proved themselves in the ring at 154.

Canelo has fought absolutely no one in his almost 50 fight career.

I felt the same way about Bute fighting Ward after the SS.

I've seen this movie play out too many times. If Floyd beats Canelo all people will say is that Canelo was a hype job and did absolutely nothing at 154. Then, I would agree with them.

i never liked alvarez and i still don't. just his name alone being in the same breath as mayweather or cotto is irritating. his whole career has been handed to him on a silver platter.

It isn't now though, for some reason.

          I'm not sure why.
I hope I don't have to bring out the quotes of dozens upon dozens, of posters calling Canelo "green", "needs to fight a to 154 pounder before fighting Floyd"[even though Floyd himself is ranked #1 at 154], "Mayweather needs to fight Pacquiao and Martinez".

They flip flop, now they want to act like "Who me? no way"

I completely agree. Thankfully, the plan seems to be for Alvarez to fight Cotto before the Mayweather fight happens. If he wins that, then a Mayweather fight is fine for him. Its just hard for me to like Mayweather-Alvarez when the kid's done nothing to deserve it.

after Martinez, which was unrealistic anyway, Alvarez was getting the nod
seen people predicting an easy Floyd win, but not saying it's a shit fight
Floyd has a couple JMW belts, and Alvarez needs a real opponent
nothing wrong with Floyd fighting him
seen people shitting on a Floyd-Guerrero fight for sure, but not Alvarez

But they also say, he has the WBC title and has done nothing to deserve it. Which is true.

But then he wants to fight Floyd in May/September 2012, and he doesn't deserve Floyd either, and he's too green. So he wanted to prove himself against either Floyd, Cotto, Williams, Kirkland, Ortiz but people just mention how he doesn't deserve a Floyd fight but his argument is that he will just fight anyone. I mean the guy mentioned Martinez as one of the 3 guys he wanted for his next fight but that's not happening for him.
