Comments Thread For: Tyson Fury vs. Kevin Johnson Early Results From Belfast

Odyssey Arena, Belfast, Northern Ireland - middleweight prospect Chris Eubank Jr. (8-0, 3KOs) won an eight round decision over the very experienced Bradley Pryce (33-12, 18KOs), who took the fight on late notice. Pryce had his moments but not enough of them to win the rounds. The sole score from the referee was 80-73.

A very nice post fight interview from both fighters, but I tuned in around the 7th round and I saw nothing that indicated Kevin Johnson was any good. Kevin Johnson was just a big punching bag that jabbed back, had no answer for Fury's footwork, and actually looked pretty old for a 33 year old. It seemed that Johnson didn't even have the drive to win. Even though Seth Mitchell got KTFO, that was more fun to watch then this.

3 weeks to train for an eliminator wasn't enough

118-109 fury on my card. fury dominated with his activity & boxing. he kept moving around & didn't fall for any of kingpin's counterpunching traps on the ropes. he was in great shape to go 12 rounds & he got the job done. i just wished johnson would have had more suitable time to prepare for this fight. if it wasn't an eliminator then it's no big deal but i think a guy should get a full training camp when in this position. kingpin got a nice payday but this will probably be the last we see of him in a major fight. no one lines up to fight him & this will solidify that. he will be a HW in limbo who will have to take any fight he can get but on the other hand he could become a gatekeeper for more taller HWs. he seems to have trouble finding range when he fights taller guys & can't get his right hand off. he gets stuck in sparring partner mode & in a defensive shell. guys like helenius, ustinov, dimitrenko, etc could all target him to add to their resumes.

Price and Fury both win. The build-up continues.

Well done Tyson.2012 you've proved that you are for real and have improved leaps and bounds since you've teamed up with Peter fury your uncle.Remember when you fought Canadian prospect nevin paJkic and you got dropped and just for a moment it seemed here we go again another wasted talent who bought into his own hype and came to nothing Same old story but you"Ve really turned things around and should be very proud of what you"Ve done so far.I did"t think manny steward was an idiot and he picked you to become the next heavyweight champion of the world And to be honest I think he could be right.Just keep doing what your doing your on the right track.2012 you"Ve had your uncle Peter in your corner And You"Ve done brillant 2013 you"LL have your dad there aswell.Best of luck tyson.

Johnson's nckname should be tenpin, with a skirt, not kingpin. He is utter garbage, even Rendall Monroe would beat him.

Johnson was trying to copy Mayweather's style of fighting in that Fury fight. I guess he didn't see what happened to Berto last week who tried the same thing.

Does Mayweather plod forward getting hit and throwing nothing? If you're are talking about the shoulder roll he does that all the time.
