Chavez is overrated, great resume on paper but he's not the best mexican fighter ever.

For me Salvador Sanchez was the best, unfortunately he died and couldn't improve his already great legacy.

About Canelo, he's just ******, maybe he's going to be the first boxer ever to fight against an opponent 4 or 5 weight classes below.

I don't think Canelo has any decision in when, how often, or who he fights. All GBP and De La Hoya care about is building this young man up and making money off him, and they most likely don't care about his future legacy. The sad part is they've probably convinced him to leave all legal power in regards to fight making to them, and he's young enough to trust them with that.

I think Chavez was a great fighter, but the man had 57 fights before he faced a champion.

Alvarez is following in JCC's footsteps in that regard.

They both captured vacant titles as their first championship.

Alvarez is well on his way to doing exactly what JCC did.

Now all Alvarez has to do is lose a match and have his manager get the decision reversed afterwards.

              He'll be right on track.

funny guy. Chavez always get critizied for fighting nobodies. That was his way to stay on top of the game. Its not like he didnt have an impressive list of top fighters. Chavez sr was the man. Canelo will go far but i dont think he will break chavez record

Very few have a chance because those who show promise don't usually go 57 fights without facing a reigning world champion.

Chavez lost and had his manager reverse a decision to a win ... and then used that bull**** to say that he came close to Ray Robinson's streak.

                  It is what it is.

I won't say what Canelo can't do because he's doing what Chavez Sr did so far.

Chavez Sr was great and Canelo can be great

Both fighters have a lot to brag about. Chavez Sr. Proved himself and Canelo is trying to make a name. So why worry about it. Chavez is a living legend. Canelo aspires to be remembered as great. Their mexicans does it even matter?

The man was a warrior but he is very much overhyped.
