I'm a diehard boxing fan and from what I see Floyd Mayweather is no coward. It's sickening how much that gets thrown around and people start believing it. Like when that ESPN guy blurted it out. Sure he can be an idiot sometimes with his comments, doesn't fight as much as we'd like him to, and THE fight hasn't been made yet, but when he does fight everyone tunes in. Why? Because the guy is a boxing marvel. Period.

I hate the PR war between him and Pacman because it makes people hate both of them for ****** reasons and they're both great boxers. But Floyd does seem to get held to a higher standard. Why aren't people screaming for Pac to jump in the ring with Martinez or Canelo? Or people try to big up the Pac vs. Bradley fight and downplay the Mayweather vs. Cotto fight (which was a darn good scrap). It's ridiculous. But when the smoke clears and guys like Floyd aren't around anymore, boxing will move on as it always does. But we'll see plenty of posts about the "good ol' days" and how great Mayweather was.

Though it's not all floyd's fault, but PAC will probably get more love from the next generation because of all the classic fights he's been in

Honestly when it's all said and done I think Floyd will go down as the better fighter and people will remember him more. The reason i say that is because if you really look at who Floyd has fought it was good fighters. And he always had that mystery about him because of how good his defense is so we all think how would he react in a real fight. But if people watch fights like his fight with Chavez, Augutus, Corley etc it gets answered. Where as Manny while great we learned everything. It's not much Pac can show fans that we don't know about him. But they both great in their own right.

Floyd's been in some classic fights too ya know! Pac fought the great Mexican legends Morales and Barrera, but Floyd got a few under his belt as well.

        Hernandez
        Corrales
        Judah
        Castillo I & II
        Gatti
        De La Hoya
        Hatton
Mosley (right on the cusp of being washed up, but still no one gave him a chance in that one)
        Cotto

Those aren't bad fights to watch or reference when you want to see drama and Floyd's skills.

Of course not people forget how good some of those guys were when Floyd fought them. He was even considered a underdog in some of them. I still think Chavez and Floyd is a classic Floyd killed him with the uppercuts and he was a damn good fighter back then

And you can't compare guys then to now. Fighters then didn't even make 100 grand fighting Ali was the first to make over a million in a fight so those guys fought because they had to. I would bet my life if fighters back then made as much money as they do now they wouldn't have fought as much as they did

Yep. Once Floyd, Pac, and Cotto retire, we'll have some good young bucks coming up, but you'll still hear comments like, "Man Pacquiao would have whopped Broner at 135!" or "This new kid is good, but he boxes nowhere as good as Floyd."

                    Or my all-time favorite:

"Boxers in my time used to fight EVERYBODY!"

Which is a lie, flat out. All boxers from every era have missed fighting someone the fans said they should have fought. Either due to money, scheduling, one fighter not being ready, injuries, etc. It happens, but no fighter should be deemed a bum because he didn't fight one guy. Toney and Hopkins never fought. Bowe and Lewis never fought. But all of them are deemed great fighters. Floyd and Pac don't fight and now they're bums/cowards/cherry pickers. WTF?

The answer is he should have retired for good. Then you can say all the things you want, ie, he's the greatest, and all those sweet things you want to hear.

Since he made himself active, he's expected to prove he's the best by fighting the best without being a pu55y. Or stop pretending he wants to fight this and that fighter and just admit he's fighting for money.

                      Hope that helps.
