it would be a great fight if tarver would make a fight of it. jirov 3 or 4 years ago no contest. he wins. but jirov has been in so many wars i.e. james toney and the like he is tired and maybe should retire.

Why was there any reason to hate Jirov? He was a fairly humble guy who came from a ****ty background and worked his way to the top of the cruiserweight division through grit and toughness.

Don't tell me it's because of the way he fought either...guy came into the ring to FIGHT every time. He gave us a classic with Toney and just made a mistake by jumping up in weight.

Oh did you not get the memo where Jirov said he suspected Toney of being on steroids when they fought? Is that an excuse or just sour g****s? Either way, why say it?

Here's a rare glimps of Vassiliy “The Tiger” Jirov in action agaisnt Antonio Tarver in the 1996 Olympics.

It was a compeitive 3 round fight that saw Tarver out of gas in the 3rd, but held on to lose a close decision.
