Everyone is so concerned about other's "knowledge" of the sport. If someone has a good opinion or observation thats good enough for me. As far as Sugar goes, I like the guy. He is good for Boxing. He's not my favorite, but he isn't a "******" either.

Bert Sugar , Outside Of Dates In History Etc, Likely Knows Not Muchj -if Any- More Than Most Of You Guys Here. People Think He Is Some Kind Of Boxing Guru... He Is A Guy That Knows Dates, Places, The History. A Guy Can Tell U When The Space Shuttle Was Built, How Fast It Goes, How Many People It Carries Etc.... But He Couldn't Tell You How To Fly It.

Ain't that the truth, I must say there are a few in this site that do a good job of gathering good info, but nothing compares to one's experience of being in the trenches .... Stats go out the window!

i was watching classic rinside:top ten hw's and muhammad ali part one. i thought when he said that ali is the number two hw and joe louis is the number one hw, that he didn't know what he was talking about. but i have come to the conclusion that bert sugar is just plain ******ed! besides robbing ali of the number one spot, he said that jack dempsey left hook was more powerful than joe frazier's lol! frazier would rip dempsey's head off in four rounds or less! he also said that the biggest upset in boxing history was louis-schmeling I lol! everyone knows that every human being on earth thought tyson would kill buster douglass in 10 sec. but douglass shocked mike tyson and the world! the only reason that the odds were 42:1 was because they had to get someone to vote for douglass for it to be legit, or else no one would have voted for douglass. he also had ezzard charles and gene tunney on the top ten list. so bert sugar has mental problems.

i dont hold sugar's opinion to any esteem at all, but i respect him more than manny steward. now theres an idiot

I don't hold bert sugar in a high regard either, i always considered him as a moron. He grew up watching the boxers of the 40's and 50's. He will have a bias towards them, there is no other explanantion to it. To him, marvin hagler and pernell whitaker are barely top 50, enough said. Yet he claims that his list is based on accomplishments and not head to head matchups. Well guess what old ***, sweet pea and marvleous marvin accomplished alot more than your golden boy gene tunney. Tunney padded his record nicely on bums, he has beat like 12 different guys that can qualify as C level fighters or better. He beats dempsey out of his prime, then defends his belt against a bum and decides to retire, yeah what a great heavyweight title run!

He wont admit that guys from the 80's, 90's and modern era can be all time greats cuz he wont get his **** off the guys he idolized.
