Comments Thread For: Kiko Martinez-Carl Frampton Heads To January 26th

Maravilla Box Management will now stage Kiko Martinezīs defense of the EBU super bantamweight title against mandatory challenger Carl Frampton, 15-0, on January 26 in Spain with exact site to be announced.

MBM won the purse bids for the fight October 1 although it was first scheduled for September in Northern Ireland but Martinez, 27-3, pulled out due to an injury. Frampton fought Steve Molitor instead and won. Mandatory challenger was then Alexander Bakhtin but he pulled out and Frampton got that spot and now Martinez vs Frampton is finally on again. Frampton has really impressed me in his last couple of fights.

His boxing skills seem as good as Munroe but he has extra power.

I think he'll win fairly handily if he can handle fighting abroad.

The fight will be in Belfast, not in Spain.

First training camp in Oxnard for Kiko, no doubt he'll knock out Frampton.

taansend: This is why managers need to get there fighters adjusted to fighting aboard at an early stage in there career. frampton should of taken a few low key undercard fights overseas about 6-7 fights ago.

Frampton is the real deal, watch him walk down and beat up the veteran. Easy work.

True, Mick. Different fighters adapt to situations in various ways but exposure to various cultures is always good.

Hopefully Martinez doesn't bottle it for a third time.

Nobody cares about this fight. It's more interesting if both of them tried to make a fight with Drian Francisco

This fight has to happen this time. Been signed a few times.

Another tough test for Frampton, but I think he pulls through.

I think he has a lot of potential.
