There's also the threat of gassing out and surrendering all of the momentum to the opponent Too many people play Fight Night and don't realise that one clean punch can leave you in a hospital bed.
Why should I step into the ring I''m not a pro fighter. If you talk the talk but can't walk the walk you will get criticized. Haye did a hellava job to promote the fight....but His performance was awful and the fact that he even blamed his toe afterwards made this loss even more pathetic.

Look it doesn't matter what sport we're talking about. I have no problem with trash talker as long as they at least try to life up to their own words. Haye had been talking for two years what he was going to do. He dissed and clowned Wlad in every interview and then when it was time to fight Haye spent 12 rounds running away from Wlad and played it safe. If you talk a lot of smack but can't deliver you better believe you'll get criticized.

Haye running is a complete myth, Haye didn't have a plan B when Wlad chose not to fight. He should have took more risks to change the situation, but all this crap about him running is just that crap.

I agree with the ones that say it's different though.

        1. Froch wanted to fight Dirrell, Wlad didn't want to get in a fight he was happy just landing the jab.
        2. Dirrell was staying out of punching range, Haye was in Wlad's range all of the the time wanting Wlad to attack, but all Wlad was willing to do is jab.
        3. Dirrell was holding when Froch got close, the so called "attacker" was doing all the holding in Wlad-Haye.

Another guy that doesn't know the difference between running and countering.

Dirrell's style is to box and that's what he did. Haye's style is to go for the KO and that's NOT what he did.

imo Haye's toe actually had more effect on that fight than people accept. If it weren't for the toe, he may well have walked onto one of Wlad's sledgehammers and been knocked out, but he would have at least had a chance at landing something meaningful.

I broke my toe in a similar way a few years ago, and while it didn't bother me much in general, just certain movements were completely out of the question for weeks. From the way I felt I was surprised that Haye (and Booth and whoever else knew) thought they could do themselves justice with it.

As for Dirrell, the Froch fight was sad but the tumble he took against Abraham was laughable.

Dirrell flat out ran for a lot of the fight, staying out of range so neither can land is running. Haye is a counterpuncher at HW that's been his style in every fight.

I understand a horrible performance. Talk is cheap. You diss your opponent for like two years and then you don't even win one single round and not even try to change something about your game when you're losing badly. Haye made himself look like a fool in that fight.

He lands counters to knock people out, that's his main objective. Dirrell counters to score points first and IF there's an opportunity for a KO he'll take it. That's the difference.
