The former world heavyweight champion of the WBC, 43-year-old Oleg Maskaev (36-7, 27KOs), will return to the ring on December 30th in Moscow. The event will be called "Return of the Champions." The opponent will be named at a later date. Maskaev has not fought since suffering a first round TKO defeat to Nagy Aguilera in December 2009.

I think this is a bad idea. He never had the best chin but I'm sure it isn't better now. This comeback won't last long as Nagy Aguilera ended his last comeback in a minute...

Agree - all Oleg's KO losses (and there's quite a few) are highlight reel material. Not only does he get KO'd, he gets KO'd in devastating fashion.

He should stay retired, the last I saw of him he was shot and he's just gotten older since then. He's been brutally KOed too many times.

Poor old man must need money.

Wasn't Maskaev just running for mayor/governor in a city in California/California?

Yes they are LOL, devastating KOes. I think he KO Rahman once in dramatic fashion too and a few fights later the same thing happened to him.

Him and Rahman should have a third fight cause for sure either guy will suffer a dramatic KO

i don't think he is broke. i know he stayed in shape & talked comeback a few times but it just never materialized. i don't think there are too many russian\eastern european boxers that go broke. i'm sure there are some but the ones from the old USSR era i think have all done pretty well for themselves. sultan ibragimov is ****** rich & in the russian oil business. i watched a show on valuev. when he was HW champ he was living in a small 1 bedroom apartment with his wife & kid. they never lived high on the hog. i think maskaev was in politics & has done well for himself. he should stay retired...

Maskaev should stay retired, but I think as an amateur he did something remarkable by KOing Vitali.. correct me if Iīm wrong. Thatīs more of an achievement than holding the WBA regular belt these days!
