Comments Thread For: Banks Eyes Adamek, Povetkin: Not Shocked By Upset

Heavyweight contender Johnathon Banks (29-1-1, 19 KOs) sent a shockwave through the entire division on Saturday night at the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, when he knocked out previously undefeated rising star Seth Mitchell (25-1-1, 19 KOs) in two rounds.

Banks was a huge underdog, but he received an inspirational push with the recent passing of his Hall of Fame trainer, Emanuel Steward.

There's a lot of interesting matchups (like Banks-Povetkin) that could be made in 2013.

I think Banks could beat Povetkin, would prefer to see him rematch Adamek though.

          Banks-Klitschko! Oh wait....

Sucks for Banks, he must know he has no legitimate shot of lifting the HW title if he's willing to train the champ in the division he fights in lol.

Banks would be a good matchup for Povetkin.

Actually, now that I think about it, I wouldn't be surprised if he pulled it off.

            I'd watch the fight.

Adamek once turned Banks from a prospect into obscurity, if you forget about his stint as Wlad's trainer, and now Banks pulls off such an upset. Their rematch would be legit heavyweight fight and for Banks it would be personal.

the recycled 90s Hws are almost gone so there are going to be opportunities for others to step up. banks picked up a huge win & is 1win from a mandatory title shot but he could end up being a voluntary for povetkin.

This may have been the defining moment Banks needed! Good for him!
