Did HBO really try to hype him this way? I admit, I haven't been paying attention.

        Seth has to quit

Seth should quit as he has no chin or talent to fight as a competitive heavy. When a soft puncher KO's you quickly you have to quit. Goodbye Seth. Didn't Seth wife leave with banks after the fight?

banks is a decent HW. there were many questions about him in the division. he looked lethargic & out of shape in a few fights. he struggled with jason gavern & went 12 with saul montana but then scored a solid win with a knockout of travis walker. walker & mitchell are similar but i think mitchell can be better then him. the first knockdown looked to be a great counter when mitchell was off balance & banks has decent power. unlike the chazz fight where mitchell was able to hang on, he was unable to repeat that last night when in trouble. after the first round i thought mitchell was going to obliterate him like he did to chazz & ibragimov. banks looked tenative & uninspired but maybe that was him just being cautious & checking out mitchell's stuff. banks obviously has a high boxing iq or he wouldn't be training wladimir klitschko. banks is now top 5 in the WBC & WBO. this was a semi final eliminator for the WBC title. the winner of stiverne\arreola will face banks for the mandatory spot or vacant belt if vitali retires. mitchell has 2 decent wins on his resume so he is a fringe contender still but needs to get a few more wins under his belt. his ranking just dropped so i'd target someone like tony grano(NABF champion),abdusalamov or travis walker. he needs to take on a few more C+ level guys & work on defence & a few things. there is no doubt he has power & throws combinations well so there is lots to work with. you can't teach him to take a punch but he can be taught to defend better.

Mitchell is good guy but I am happy Banks won last night. Steward I am sure was proud of him last night.

Lulz Mago is a legit HW prospect and possibly the hardest punching one and you think Mitchell should fight him? Mago is more skilled than some give him credit for and he's alot more technically skilled than Mitchell especially on defense. Abdusalamov also didn't start boxing until age 24 yet people don't use it as an excuse for him like they do for Seth.

of course they will hype him. he's american! just like they did with michael grant(basketball)when he started late. he still has had a decent career. abdusalamov is just a step behind in level of competition but he too has huge power. he is vulnerable much like mitchell. they both get hit easily. we have already seen abdusalamov get off the canvas, comeback & win. you don't think mitchell\abdusalamov would be a good fight while it lasted? mitchell just dropped down the pecking order. i only have 7 abdusalamov fights. mccline being the only real name opponent he's faced i've seen. mitchell will have to beat guys like walker & abdusalamov if he wants to get back in the hunt. the klitschkos are near the end unless wlad stays around a few more years so there are guys needing to make their moves now. the up & comers seem to be in their early 30s these days so they got to start fighting quality guys in a hurry. the recycled guys from the 90s are finally disappearing so the door is open for new challengers. 1 or 2 losses isn't the end but you got to win the big fights when presented to you & mitchell could not in his first attempt. david tua beat 4 former world champions but only got 1 title shot in his career because he choked in the big moments. he showed up 30lbs overweight for lennox, loss to byrd in an eliminator, his draw with rahman in their 2nd fight took away his 2nd chance at a title(rahman should have won & got a title shot)& he was all set to fight vitali klitschko until he lost to monte barrett in their rematch. mitchell & abdusalamov could end up facing each other down the road.

mitgchell had about as much potential as a heavy getting late to the sport can have, but the chin is an issue and will always be in a division like heavyweight.
