Froch is the second best super middleweight, most of us are fine with that because is still a great fighter.
Is it possible that Froch has hit his true prime after Ward?

I voted no and I would have voted that he was already past prime when he fought Ward if that option had been available. As a rule athletes are at their strongest between 25 and 30 years old. If they take care of themselves they can still be very good past 30 but they are slowly going down hill. There may be exceptions to the rule but for a boxer to have not hit and past his prime by Froch's age would be very unlikely.
It can be applied to guys like RJJ who relies on his shocking reflexes and speed, just like it can be applied to guys like Ali, Tyson etc.
Froch is snow as a ****ing snail. All his attirbutes that can be improved upon.
Foot work, defense, mental state, patience, accuracy have nothing to do with his youth. For someone of his styles, it is perfectly reasonable to see an improvement during his early to mid 30's.Comment

Exactly. Not saying he will beat Ward. but there is a very real chance Froch has become a better fighter since than.Comment

He's the same fighter he was beyond the added experience. He was already very good, it didn't require some sort of stepping up to the next level to get his most recent wins. He simply has some physical limitations that can't be surmounted against the likes of a fighter like Ward.Comment

Nah, Froch is a very good fighter but fights ward and you'll get a replay. He struggles with speed. The Kessler rematch is another thing though.Comment

The man also is also still trying to prove a point. He still wants to show everyone he is better than Calzaghe, and hes on the right road, he's already ahead of Cal in terms of quality of opps. But chasing Cal's record defenses is well beyond him now, and if we are benig honest, Froch clearly isnt interesting in racking up 20 defences mostly against journeymen and fringe contenders that he woukld obviousy beat - he'd prefer half a dozen against top opps to test his championship credentials.
With this in mind, hes bound to be hellbent on being absolutely prime for as long as possible - even six defences more will mean sticking around till he is 38/39, an age where your physical abilities are clearly visibly in decline, when he will surely retire.Last edited by DreamFighter; 11-19-2012, 09:15 AM.Comment
