Comments Thread For: Mitchell Says Witherspoon Scare Helped Him Grow A Lot

His fight against Chazz Witherspoon wasn’t long, but it was extremely important in Seth Mitchell’s growth as a heavyweight contender.

The former Michigan State linebacker always believed he would respond positively when he encountered trouble in the ring. Proving it against Witherspoon, a B-level heavyweight who has above-average punching power, made Mitchell realize that he can handle anything difficult Detroit’s Johnathon Banks might present when they square off tonight in a 12-round bout in Atlantic City (HBO; 10 p.m. ET/PT).

there is no doubt he learned from it but he also showed good ring intelligence by hanging on & not letting chazz finish him. he now knows he can't walk through every HW's punch & this can only help his developement. the winner is closer to the WBC title. i think mitchell's power will be the difference. if he gets banks in trouble then it's all over. bank's is fighting with a heavy heart but i see him getting finished somewhere between round 6-8.
