Calzaghe is the greater fighter in any sense. Froch is close to overtaking Calzaghe's resume but he needs a big win or a combination of top contenders.

The only aspect that Froch betters Calzaghe in, at this moment in time, is popularity.

Froch already has a better resume
Hokins is better than all Froch's wins, but it wasn't decisive
Calzaghe is a good fighter but didn't do much comp wise
and Froch isn't finished yet either

easy to answer. Clearly Froch is "greater", but that being said I think Calzaghe would beat Froch.

i voted calzaghe, in terms of skill set, but resume wise and overall "greater" its gotta go to the cobra, by far!!

calzaghe had the skills, he didnt always fight the best to showcase them, but froch certainly has, and will continue to do so...

I'm somewhat surprised by the polls and confused as to why people think Froch's resume is 'by far' much better than Calzaghe's.

I don't think you can really make a case for Froch's resume bettering Calzaghe's at the moment.

Froch lost to a slightly faded Kessler

              - but prime Kessler was beaten by Joe

              Froch beat a faded Taylor

              - but Taylor lost to Pavlik who lost to Hopkins who lost to Joe

              Froch beat Pascal

              - but Pascal lost to Hopkins who lost to Joe

Joe Calzaghe is underrated and was clearly a better fighter than Froch

                Triangle theories are great.

                  Agreed.

                  Sven Ottke>>>Carl Froch.

Not even close either. How can it be? One of them has 21 Title defences.

Bute, Pascal, Taylor, Johnson, Abraham, Dirrell

                    vs

Hopkins, Kessler, Bika, Reid, Lacy, Eubank

Froch had the misfortune of running into Prime Ward, whereas Joe declined coming to the US to fight Jones Jr at his peak, and picked up scraps later on.

                    It's close.

Why is Eubank amongst Calzaghe's names?

He wasn't even in the Top 10 at 168 and hadn't won a legit fight there in years.
