The foam and horsehair runs from the fingertips of the glove, down to the wrist. For a glove to be missing a chunk of padding is highly unlikely. Each glove is hand made by an expert craftsman.

The most common glove defect comes from glove sizing, not missing pieces. They might be tighter in some areas, dimensions might be a little off, weight might be a little off as well. Highly doubtful the glove maker slipped half a piece of foam inside the glove.
