I think you are in error a bit. I was around during Lewis's career, and, after he became champion, he never stopped praising himself and running others down. He didn't use foul language, because that wasn't his style, but, every time he was commentating he would bring his own prowess into his remarks. After his co-workers saw his inclination, they would deliberately inject a question to Lewis which would allow him to glorify himself all over again. Like a child who needs affection. How many times have we heard him say "a pugilist specialist".... "I'm like fine wine- as I get older I get better"... "I'm the real world champion, because I've boxed in several countries"..."I'll have one Klitschko for breakfast and the other for lunch". etc. No foul language, and harmless really, but tiresome and boring. What I call "mingy".
You should listen to Larry Merchant trying to pin him down after the Klitschko fight. He wriggled and twisted and evaded, and accused and excused. All Merchant was doing was trying to get Lewis to admit that Klitschko was a lot better than he had thought.
