For what it's worth (and frankly, it's not worth much), I was never quite sold on the idea that Margarito cheated versus Cotto. There has been no convincing evidence that I'm aware of. It's all circumstantial. It's the kind of evidence that tends to "sway" people that side with one fighter or the other anyway.

While plaster may or may not explain the damage Miguel sustained in their fight, it doesn't account for the punishment Antonio was able to walk through. So what accounted for Margarito's victory? His superhuman toughness, or construction materials? Seems to me that a case can be made for either one.

In the end, what you say, Cuauhtémoc, makes the most sense. We may never know for sure whether Marg cheated versus Cotto or not; but one thing remains certain, his later actions has forever called his fights into question. Like everything about this topic, it's not so simple. It's both deserved and sad.

What you said is worth a lot because it's 100% true. I have been a boxing trainer for over a decade and was a boxer before that.

I can tell you for 100% certainty that I have never had my hands wrapped or wrapped someone's hands without knowing what is inside.

Saying that, you are right in that Margarito didn't have success just because he had something in his gloves, the man was an animal. He could take a shot like very few in the history of the sport and never gave up or gave an inch.

That's what hurts fans of his so badly, that he never needed that to be successful because of his style. Even in the last Cotto fight, he was pressuring and landing but his eye couldn't hold up.

Margarito was a great warrior but his cheating has forever tainted his legacy. Sad thing is, other's have done the same thing and never been caught.
