What can I say? boxing is business first. legacy can go to hell. It's the trend nowadays and we all have to live with it.

I don't blame for Geale taking the Mundine fight for a big (well-earned) money fight in Australia. I just hope he still fights GGG at one point. Any good MW for that matter (to fight GGG).

Geale did MW a favor by taking the title away from Sturm, so I don't have a problem with him fighting Mundine. He can always make a unification later on, which I think he will. If Martinez doesn't make an offer, then GGG will be the second best option.

He said it would be a small show, meaning no other name fighter on the card, and probably small arena. Fighting on HBO doesn't automatically make you world famous (Haye, the Klits, Froch, Kessler, Abraham are all doing fine without HBO). A win over GGG would ensure a shot at Martinez? LOL what world do you live in? Martinez is looking for megafights only at this stage of his career.

And it wouldn't have been a unification, it would have been a title defense with the super champ fighting the world champ.

Anytime Geale wants to try and reaquire the WBA belt i'm sure Golovkin would be more than happy to give him a title shot for it and unify, same can't be said for Geale. I'm sure he'll never want it.
Yeah noone cares about Mundine, that's why Geale is probably gonna make much more money than GGG and Tommy Gun combined.

I just love how other fighters with bigger names are allowed to make an optional defense before facing a mandatory. It's not like he is fighting a guy who isn't a top 20 contender. Can't expect him to fight for peanuts when he is winning titles travelling 1/2 way around the world

              1) Guarenteed the undercard for HBO would be better and have more name fighters than whatever will be on in Aussie. Dzinziruk/Gonzalez was on the Golovkin/Proksa undercard and with HBO trying to promoted the MW's and the Golovkin/Geale winner you can be sure they would push for exposure.

              2) Yes you can make a career without US TV but Geale isn't any of those guys you named and you can't do it out of Australia. Yes fighting Golovkin on HBO would give him world wide exposure in a way unlike anything else, something that will not happen fighting two almost 40 year old's in Mundine and Soliman in Australia. Lulz at you trying to say otherwise.

              3) It would have been a WBA unification plus Golovkin has the IBO belt which alot regard as a quality belt, they have alot more integrity then any of the main four.

              4) HBO pays especially for headliners, especially when they're trying to push a fighter which they would be doing for a Golovkin/Geale winner. I'll be interested in hearing what kind of amazing money these two make for their historic Australian fight Lulz, honestly what is projected?

              5) Martinez fighting a Golovkin/Geale winner is unlikely but they would without a doubt be considered the #1 MW and when Martinez ducked them to fight whichever cash cow boxer it will be considered exactly that. Being regarded as the new heir and #1 MW is accompanied with money.

I also enjoy how Geale issued a statement saying how outraged he was to have been "stripped". Then after everyone mocks him since the entire boxing world knew that the Sturm/Geale winner would have to fight Golovkin immediately Geale issues another statement trying to offer an explaination, or excuse, however you want to view it.

Some good points, but a bit shortsighted. For one, you can make a career in Australia, Mundine and Green have proved it. At least you can do much better than Geale, and this fight won't hurt his future prospects one bit. Plus he gets to avenge his only, highly controversial defeat.

I agree Mundine won't be huge money for him, it'll probably be at least double what Golovkin would bring. And if Sergio is itching to unify, he'll probably get a call anyway, doesn't need GG for that

There's a six figure purse to be made from this bout. Golovkin only just got exposed in the US, Mundine is a big draw back in Aus. Boxing just doesn't revolve around the US. Lol
But the US is where the money is at. Our champs with national exposure make 7 - 9 digits. Sorry, there's no comparison anywhere unless a US promoter takes the fight internationally.
