Mesi makes his case on ESPN

Yesterday Joe Mesi went on ESPN's "Outside the lines" with his doctor and showed that there was no more risk to him than anyother heavyweight. They showed the MRI of the bleed that occured, and it was obviously insignificant. All subsequent scan's indictated the area was completely normal. His doctor said there is absolutely no evidence of any increased risk. Soon he will make his case before the Nevada State Athletic Commission.

So there it is, expert testimony that Joe Mesi is in perfectly good health. So what are your thoughts?

Personally I never liked his style, and never believed he could even a contender..so I don't care basically
I used to be high on D. Guinn but he doesn't look really stable either after all

While I don't think that Mesi is the best ever, he deserves a chance to fight to prove he is.

Boxers get punched and parts of their bodies are damaged. That is the way it is.

However, when he does come back, everyone will be saying that the opponent will literally kill Mesi.

And also, Mesi has the ability to make more than $500K for each of his remaining fights. I don't want to question Jack Mesi's motives, but that has to be on his mind.

Mesi's return to the game may not do much morally from the sport's standpoint, but I like the guy, I liked watching him fight. He has major weaknesses, probably wont go on to accomplish an awful lot, but if he wants (or feels he needs) to continue fighting, I'll continue to watch.

I think he should stop fightin....u know what happens to heavyweights, as the fight goes to later rounds, they just catch punches on their heads, that's just how tired they get...if that happens agian, Mesi will suffer a major brain damage. he better find a job somewhere else...

it's not worth it I mean his skill was questionable and jirov even had him out on his feet in his last fight.

If Babyjoe really are fit for fighting, I hope to see him again. I like the guy. A nice fellow and a good fighter. A great fighter, I dont know, but a very exciting figure. I would like to see how far he can make it. But he has to be quick about it, considering his age. He turns 32 later this year and probably does not have many more good years left in him. I wish him the best of luck. How ever, his health is more important, and I only hope that the MD that examined him did a good job.

If he really is OK than he should be able to fight, I am not totally convinced until they make it official he doesn't have brain damage.

In a perfect world he may go on to nice long career, but this is the Heavyweight division, and Mesi gets clobbered by everyone he faces. He is tough, but he just gets hit too damn much to risk watching him die on live t.v. - I say screw the money dude, you will never be a Champion because you don't have the skills it takes to get there, retire and live or fight and die....

Excellent point. Mesi doenst have the skills to wear the crown. Basically its a gamble, health vs money. Soundtraveler is right on. Every time hes in the ring he takes a beating. It would be different in a lighter weight class, or if Mesi was a real defensive fighter. I wouldn't risk it. Im sure Mesi will fight agian, sounds like all his people want him to fight and if hes got doctors telling him he's ok to fight, Im sure it will happen. Of course doctors can be wrong too.
