Beating a light welterweight two months ago is such an exhausting stretch for a 154lb champion. I mean, fighting twice in the year is brutal to ask of anyone.

The WBC's golden, entitled child, gets to sit on the sidelines and avoid a mandatory against Vanes or Lara for what looks like at least 10 months (if he's fighting in May, and then scheduling the next fight in September or October) just for the opportunity to make the WBC more money with a big fight in May.

Money > WBC's own rules, I guess.

Needless to say, it works against the winner of Lara/Vanes. 10 months means one of two things: the winner has to fight (and thus defend and potentially lose) their mandatory status, or they sit out and become inactive. Canelo keeps getting breaks and cutting corners.
